Comprehensive Wealth Report Indonesia

Indonesia's Comprehensive Wealth Index (CWI) has nearly tripled over the past 25 years, growing from IDR 404.3 million (USD PPP 86,100) in 1995 to IDR 1.13 billion (USD PPP 240,750) in 2020. This growth, driven primarily by human and produced capital, reflects an average annual increase of 4.3%, yet natural capital has remained stagnant.

Despite this wealth expansion, real per capita GDP grew at a slower rate of 2.8%, indicating underutilization of wealth for income generation. Indonesia's natural resource management remains a concern, as the country ranks high in global commodity production but underperforms in wealth generation.

For example, Malaysia generates six times more wealth per harvested tree. To address this, implementing comprehensive wealth accounts to optimize asset management and avoid the middle-income trap is recommended. By leveraging its resources more effectively, Indonesia aims to achieve high-income status by 2045, ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
